Casa São Salvador was built in 1936 in a typical Portuguese colonial style with many original features including hand painted plaster tiles in the entrance hall and throughout the corridors. The garden is built in three level terraces giving it a unique aspect and is dotted with a wide variety of fruit trees. It rests in a little valley near the small village Varzea de Meruge with spectacular views over the highest peak of continental Portugal, Serra da Estrela. Its tranquil and peaceful location grants our guests a restful stay. It is ideal for quiet walks in the woodlands, bird watching or simply enjoying an aperitif at the local cafe. It is only a short 10 minute drive from the towns Seia and Oliveira do Hospital where you can find restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, banks and other amenities. Also within 10 minute drive you reach the National Park with breathtaking views over the mountains. Explore the Mountain villages which are housed in valleys dug by rivers and streams and take the chance for a swim in one of many river beaches and lakes in the area.

There is a kitchen available to our guests next to a covered terrace ideal for outdoor dining. We also have a plunge pool so that you can cool down on hot summer days and a swing to entertain the children. At the back of the house there is a huge fig tree with a hammock underneath perfect for reading or an afternoon nap.
